The following screens will
guide you through the electronic submission process for submitting a
REVISED manuscript to Science Signaling,if you have been requested by an editor
to resubmit your manuscript after revision. We strongly recommend that you read our
instructions before proceeding.
If you have a new manuscript for submission, please go to http://www.submit2scisignal.org.
To proceed with submitting a revised manuscript, you
will need to have the login information (user ID and password) sent to you
by your manuscript editor. Please have all of your files ready--text,
art, supplementary material, cover art, and a cover letter. You will
be asked to upload all of these files in one operation.
You will also be asked to fill out a conflict of interest form
(click here for our policy)
and complete an exclusive Publishing License via a click-through
(click here
for more information on this License).
Please have relevant conflict of interest information ready for yourself
and all co-authors. Note that once you have filled out and transmitted these forms,
you will not be able to make any revisions to them via this WWW site. Any
proposed modifications must be sent directly to the Science Signaling editorial
office. You can, however, complete these forms and return later to upload
your files.
Compressing files:
For extremely large figure files
(i.e., individual figure files greater than 10 megabytes in size),
authors are encouraged to compress their files into
.zip or
.sea
archives (using a program such as WinZip
or Aladdin Stuffit)
and send the zipped archives rather than the uncompressed files.
Compressing figure files in this manner should result in a significantly faster
upload of your files using our revision upload site and may help avoid
timeout errors.
All files should be named starting with your manuscript
number and with further designations indicated below:
Cover Letter:
- Please include one single
file as a cover letter that describes your revision and include a
response to the comments of the reviewers and editor. The letter can be in any format,
including ps, pdf, or other files that can be accessed by MS
Word or Adobe Acrobat.
- Name the
file with the manuscript number followed by "coverletter" and an extension indicating the
file type (e.g., 2001234coverletter.pdf).
For manuscript text files:
- Please see our instructions for manuscript
preparation using popular word processors or LaTex.
- Please collate all text, references, figures and table
captions, and tables into one file. Do
not include figures
- Name files with the manuscript number
followed by "Revisedtext" and by an extension indicating the
file type. (e.g., "2001234Revisedtext.doc")
- Acceptable formats for the text files are: Microsoft Word
(Macintosh or Windows) or WordPerfect, Rich Text Format, LaTeX, and
ASCII text. We cannot use Postscript or pdf files for copyediting.
Do not add extra text formatting, such as hyphenation or PDF style
sheets. Citation numbers generated by automatic numbering should be
converted to normal text. Please do not use Endnote links in
version 5 or lower of MS Word--see our instructions for converting these
files prior to uploading.
For figure files:
- First, Please see our detailed instructions
regarding preparing final figures for publication.
- Please name files with the manuscript number followed
by "fig" followed by the figure number and letter followed by an extension
indicating the file type (e.g., 2001234fig1.eps, 2001234fig1b.eps). Figures can be broken into
separate parts if necessary.
- Figures should be in one of the following
applications or formats: Adobe Illustrator, Freehand, or PhotoShop,
TIFF, JPG, postscript, or encapsulated postscript. We cannot accept PowerPoint files or
file created in applications that cannot be loaded
into one of these applications. Electronic figures and
hard copies should be sized to fit on single 8.5" x
11" or A4 paper. For large figures (exceeding several MB),
it may help to compress your files before uploading (to zip or sea files).
For supplementary material:
- Please see our instructions for supplementary
material.
- Supplementary material files are posted on
Science Online with your manuscript. The files can be in a variety
of formats.
- Supplementary material should be named beginning with the
manuscript number followed by "s" followed by a number, followed by an
extension indicating the file type (e.g., 2001234s.eps).
- Please do not use colors close in hue to
identify different parts of a figure.
Covers:
- You are also welcome to include
cover art with your revision. We can accept files in the same
formats as for figures.
- Please name the files with your manuscript number followed by "cover" and
a number for each file. Include descriptions in your cover letter if
necessary (e.g., 2001234cover.eps).
